1.Kasenetz-Katz Singing Orchestra Circus" Quick Joey Small ( Run Joey Run)  - First ever punk record.
2. Michael Jackson: Don't Stop Til You Get Enough - The definitive dance record. Wish he'd record one of ours.
3. Jimi Hendrix: The Wind Cries Mary - Understated guitar. Underrated song.
4. Robert Wyatt: Strange Fruit -Bessie Smith song in the 30's which made 7 people commit suicide when first played on the radio
5. Madness: All the Madness singles - An incredible singles group
6. Cliff Richard: Devil Woman -Classic British pop production by the old devil himself.
7. The Monkees: Last Train to Clarksville -Classic US production-line pop
8. The Beatles: Strawberry Fields Forever - Damn good backwards bit at the end
9. Elvis Costello: Alison - Simply one of the best songs ever , written by one of the best song-writers.
10. The Undertones : It's Going to Happen - THE Summer record of '81. And probably '82/3/4/ etc.

Kate Bush : My Top 10

Kate made this list a few months after her third album Never For Ever was released. Wait, you're still looking at the photo aren't you?


1.Frank Zappa: Overnite Sensation -"Montana"was the first Zappa track I ever heard and it's stuck as a firm favourite.
2. A.L. Lloyd and Eran MacColl : Blow Boys Blow - I was brought up with this album.
3. The Eagles: One of These Nights - I played it to death when studying with Lindsay Kemp and it reminds me of him.
4. David Bowie Young Americans - It reminds me of 1976, the drought summer and open windows.
5. The Beatles Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Because it's an album of excellent songs.
6. Eberhard Weber Fluid Rustle - It's like having your brain massaged.
7. Captain Beefheart Blue Jeans and Moonbeams - This is the Beefheart album where he writes love songs like nobody else.
8. Stevie Wonder The Secret Life of Plants - Because it's a modern symphony with a  high emotional content.
9. Pink Floyd The Wall - Because it reminds me of last Christmas and open fires and I wish I'd written it.
10. The TV National Iranian Chamber Orchestra Treasures of the Baroque Era - Because it allows my mind to sit down and go "aah". I listen to it when doing paperwork. In fact while writing this list!

Paul Weller : My Top 10

The Style Council's Mick Talbot : My Top Ten

In June of 1983 Mick Talbot provided Smash Hits with a  soul heavy Top Ten List of his favorite tunes.

My Top Ten : Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy

In May of 1980, with the hopes of promoting his UK Top 30 solo album Solo in Soho, Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy presented Smash Hits Magazine with a list of his all time Top 10  songs. As with all lists of this sort, a big shout out is due to the fabulously coiffed Brian at Like Punk Never Happened.
